I Önnestads socken fanns det år 1763 en mystisk ryttare Stobaeus, som ska ha varit född omkring 1729 i Alingsås som son av en notarie i staden. År 1763 ska han ha velat äkta en ryttaränka i församlingen, men p.g.a. osäkra uppgifter om hans tidigare levnad kontaktade kyrkoherden domkapitlet i Lund.
